The Joy of Returning Home

“…for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.” – Luke 15:24 (NKJV)

In many instances, life can become stagnant due to sin, which so easily besets us. We become stuck. We may be going through the motions of living. Just wandering in the wilderness of a life created by our choices. But through it all, God has never left us. He is waiting for us to return home. As the prodigal son did, and his father welcomed him.

There was no condemnation, no scolding, nor warnings, just grace, love, and celebration in his forgiveness. If an earthly father can do such, what of our Heavenly Father? He is here to meet your needs and set your captive heart free. Jesus will forgive and wash you afresh in His precious blood. He will rejoice and sing over you (Zephaniah 3:17)

Today, come home and experience the freedom and peace that only God’s forgiveness can bring, and again, receive the joy of His salvation.

Prayer

Father God, like the prodigal son, I am not worthy of Your grace, but I choose to return home. Forgive me, Jesus, and wash me in Your precious blood. Amen.
